ELIJAH BLAND brings a refreshing dimension to the modern world of soul music. Coupled with powerful lyrics and soulful grooves, his silky smooth delivery is a gift that has touched many around the world. His sound fuses elements of jazz, funk and R&B to create a unique brand of soul music.
Born and raised in Hackensack, New Jersey, the multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer and musician quickly developed an underground fan base with his first two full-length releases: "Just Me..." in 2007 and "Soulcentric" in 2008. Following the release of his sophomore LP, he was featured as a "B-Side Artist" on the nationally-syndicated Michael Baisden Show and went on to share his music with live audiences throughout the United States. In 2012 he had the honor of performing on the 6th annual Capital Jazz SuperCruise, in a lineup of legendary Jazz and Soul artists, including George Duke, Gerald Albright, Will Downing, Lalah Hathaway, Boney James, Dwele, Yolanda Adams, Eric Roberson, and many more. Now an internationally distributed recording artist, he is giving fans an encouraging preview of his third album with a new EP, entitled "Freedom" (released in January 2013).
His sophomore release, Soulcentric (August 2008) has received rave reviews! It includes the hit singles "Necessary", "Talk To Me", and "Sugar High" (featuring Grammy-nominated soul singer, Wayna). With an overwhelming response since its release in November 2007, "Necessary" quickly became a MySpace.com favorite and has been in rotation on Internet, satellite and mainstream radio stations around the world. In 2009, "Talk To Me" made its debut on the nationally syndicated Michael Baisden Show and "Necessary" was nominated for Best R&B Song in the 9th Annual Independent Music Awards. Perhaps the most powerful selection from the Soulcentric catalogue, however, is the uplifting women’s anthem “Wash The Mirror (Love Yourself)” from which Bland launched the worldwide #LoveYourself™ campaign. Fueled by the age-old notion that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the mission of this campaign is to encourage and inspire future generations of women to develop a positive relationship with their own self image, promoting positive self-esteem through the universal language of music.
